Not much to report today

but I have been thinking quite a bit about this restoration.  I am going to start with stripping out the engine and gearbox and then remove the rear axle.  I want to end upo with the E Type sitting on some dolleys that will enable me to move it around.  The idea is that I will send the body to a restorers, I have someone in mind, and then get it back, fully rebuilt and in colour.  My job will be to do everything else barring the trim which is beyond my skills.  If funds hold out I am going to target about 18 months for the entire rebuild.  Its really about a logistical exercise and making sure that all the bits you need to refit, when you need them are ready.  So all chroming and plating will be carried out pretty early on , and then engine and box last.   Hope to start in earnest very soon.

The toy arrives

Well after a very long time looking for the right E type, I have now managed to purchase a very early model.  Its chassis number 860897 and is a geniune 2 owner, RHD car supplied new in early 1963.  It is still in its original colour scheme, my favorite as it happens, of Opalescent Silver Blue with dark Blue trim.  The plan is a full strip down and complete nut and bolt restoration hopefully to Concours standard.  Anyway here are some photos of the car as I purchased her.  Been off the road since 1973!
